The top ranked Indiana Hoosiers and the unranked Butler Bulldogs faced off at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in the Boston Scientific Close the Gap Crossroads Classic. Over the last several years this matchup has become a great interstate rivalry. Fans were treated to a great game on Saturday afternoon with the Bulldogs upsetting the #1 ranked Hoosiers 88-86 in overtime.

This was a very intense game, with both coaches expressing their emotions up and down the sidelines. While, on the court, the Bulldogs played a more intense game with the Hoosiers saving their intensity until the last few minutes of regulation and into the overtime. The sellout crowd of over 19,000 was very loud, and split in half by a line of red and blue.

The last 5 minutes of regulation was some of the best basketball I’ve seen played in a long time. Both teams had players stepping up and playing the game of their careers. Indiana’s Victor Oldadipo made a steal on an inbounds pass, spun and dunked the ball to tie the game . Only to be followed up with the Bulldogs running back up court and Chase Stigall hit a wide open three point shot. Indiana freshman Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell couldn’t be outdone, he hit a three point basket at the buzzer that tied the game back up to go into overtime.
